Elton John :
Peterborough, Canada 2008 |
Botielus writes his own charts and arrangements from the recordings of the original artists. He uses multi-timbral synthesizers to recreate the sound almost exactly like the records. He can play by ear or read music. He is available to sub as keyboardist/sax for ANY show with a moment's notice (schedule permitting). Botielus currently has a full concert's worth of charts for Elton John, Billy Joel, Elvis, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, Cher, Reba, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Beatles, Rod Stewart, and more. He can learn any other artist's material not already charted very quickly. Botielus uses his own quality keyboards for local concerts, and plays rented synthesizers for out of town gigs. He plays and brings his own sax, flute, trumpet, and percussion. And can also play a bit of trombone for local concerts (or rented for out of town gigs!). |

Gig report
We played in a club called "The Groove" - big "high tech" looking disco, with nice stage, dance floor, and a few other cool little bars inside. We played 3 shows starting around 7:30 with 20 minute-ish breaks between. The crowds got steadily larger, and the last set was the best - TONS of people! |

We got lots of compliments from different folks after the show. I couldn't stand on the piano for my solos since it wasn't a "Slamgrand" but they had a real baby grand for Elton (we had a $30k Steinway for our Montana show!). But was very cool, as I used my new wireless sax mic, and roamed the stage a lot this time (gingerly stepping around the front row's drinks lining the stage!). Before & after gig: Boy, was it a long flight to Orlando! They had a driver meet us with one of those signs, and they shuttled us to a doubletree hotel 1/2 mile from the Universal studios "City Walk". After dinner at TGI Fridays, Joel, Fuzz, and I walked over to scope out the City Walk and see if we could find where we were to perform the next night. NO ALLIGATORS were sighted L City walk is like a mini-Vegas - lots of people, and you can walk around with your beers and Zombies! They have a bunch of different bars/clubs next to each other. Found a HUGE open air stage with some crew types setting up/tearing down trusses, so I asked if this is where we were playing - "no, this is the stage for "Kool & the Gang", but they took us to our club, got us in (no line for us!). Then we just wandered around, popped into "Pat O'Brians" that had a dueling piano bar, and of course, Joel knew a couple of the players there (it's like the Mafia or something: every city we go to that has a dueling piano bar - Joel or James knows some of the players - and then they let them sit in, buy us drinks, share their groupies (ok, that was a lie!).Next day, giant yellow bus (no, not the short bus for us) is waiting to take us over to soundcheck - us and about FOUR other impersonator bands - let's see, there was ABBA, Supremes (including some real ones I think), that Margaritaville guy, Rod Stewart - if there were more, sorry. We had some minor "Spinal Tap" fun loading in thru the basement, then trying to find our separate stages - that was the only bummer of this: they had all bands playing the same time in different clubs, so we couldn't check each other out. But they had like 100,000 people for this giant private party. It was for some "home builders" group (I looked for our friends from Wausau, but couldn't find them!). OK, that's all for now….if you want more, you'll have to bug me, cause I'm busy getting ready for the big heARTy pARTy coming up soon J |
